UTSA track heads to Texas A&M’s Alumni Muster

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA track & field Roadrunners are back in the Lone Star State this weekend, taking in the first of two remaining in-state regular season meets. The Roadrunners travel to College State on Saturday for the Aggies’ Alumni Muster Invitational at E.B. Cushing Stadium.

With a 28-athlete squad for this event, UTSA is one of seven in-state teams set for competition on Saturday, the Roadrunners going up against athletes from Angelo State, Sam Houston State, Texas A&M, Texas State, UT-Tyler and West Texas A&M.

The last time out, the Roadrunners collected a major haul of elite performances at the Beach Invitational in California, also garnering three of the four American Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors. Ida Breigan and Brice Chabot each registered nationally-elite marks – Breigan registered a 6.74m school-record long jump measurement that leads the nation in the event. Chabot used a wind-aided 9.99-second 100-meter to shoot to second in the AAC and the nation with the second sub-10 in the event in UTSA history. In men’s long jump, Christiaan Le Roux leapt to second in the AAC standings with a career-best 7.80m mark. Jacob Jenkins is now second in the AAC triple jumps after a 15.68m measurement. At the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, Ayumi Kobayashi moved to second in the AAC 100-meter hurdles standings with a 13.56, while at the Beach Invite Isabella Simonelli moved to 5th in the conference with a 47.07m discus toss.

Meet competition times were moved up for Saturday’s event due to weather considerations. The Alumni Muster will kick off at 10 a.m. with the hammer throw and on the track with the 5,000-meter. Field events will roll forward from morning through the afternoon and the shot put is set to close the field events with a 4 p.m. start. After the 5k, running competitions will resume with the 4x100-meter relays at 2:15 p.m. all the way through to the 4x400-meter relays at 4:32 p.m.

Competition at the Alumni Muster will appear on SEC Network+ beginning with the afternoon track portion at 2:10 p.m. ESPN+ subscribers can watch the stream here. Texas A&M Athletics will have live results through Flash Results, found here.

Up next, the Roadrunners will wrap the regular season back in Austin at the Texas Invitational on April 27. The American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships are heading to San Antonio for UTSA’s first year in the conference, scheduled for May 10-12 at the Park West Athletics Complex.
