BREAKDOWN OF THE GAME

The first inning saw a couple of zeros on the scoreboard. Orloski forced the Blazers down in order, using a foulout, strikeout and flyout. The Roadrunners got a runner on the basepaths in the bottom of the frame but did not score.

After Orloski forced a 1-2-3 top of the third with two strikeouts, the Roadrunners put together a three-run bottom of the frame. A hit by pitch to Mark Henning and a single by Diego Diaz put runners on the corners. Then, a single by Hector Rodriguez brought both of the runners home to give UTSA the lead. A few batters later, Alexander Olivo singled through the right side to extend the Roadrunners’ lead to 3-1.

UAB knotted the score at 3-3 with a couple of runs in the very next frame, before regaining the lead (4-3) with one run in the top of the sixth.

The seventh and eighth frames went scoreless as the Roadrunners got four on the bases but left them stranded. The Blazers added three more runs in the top of the ninth. Although UTSA got a pair of runners on base in the bottom of the frame, the team was not able to come back from the deficit as the Roadrunners fell to UAB by 7-3 in the series opener.
