UTSA falls to Tulsa on Saturday

TULSA, Okla. — On Saturday, the UTSA softball team dropped an 8-0 contest via the run rule to Tulsa in American Athletic Conference action at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

The Roadrunners (13-39, 3-20 The American) fell to the Golden Hurricane (29-18, 14-9 The American), with sophomore Reagan Smith (2-5) getting tagged with the loss and Anneca Anderson (8-5) earning the win.

Things remained quiet until the Golden Hurricane loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the second. Smith twirled a strikeout ahead of a walk that plated the game's first run. A Roadrunner miscue followed, extending the inning and allowing four more runs to take a 5-0 advantage.

Looking to reply, junior Camryn Robillard worked a walk and advanced into scoring position on a freshman Taryn Madlock sacrifice in the top of the third. Anderson, however, escaped from the jam, keeping the Tulsa lead intact.

The Golden Hurricane added two more in the third and another in the fourth, issuing an eight-run edge. From there, Anderson tossed a clean top of the fifth, securing a no-hitter and a run-rule victory.
