American Athletic Conference announces television designations, kickoff times for seven UTSA games

IRVING, Texas — The American Athletic Conference on Thursday announced a number of television designations and kickoff times for the 2024 football season, including for seven UTSA games.

The Roadrunners now know their start times and broadcast networks for the first four games, as well as the final three regular season contests.

UTSA will kick off its 14th season of football against Kennesaw State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Alamodome. The season opener is slated for an ESPN+ broadcast.

The Roadrunners then make short trips north on I-35 the following two Saturdays for nationally televised contests. On Sept. 7, UTSA will face Texas State on ESPNU at 3 p.m. in San Marcos. On Sept. 14, the Roadrunners will meet Texas on ESPN at 6 p.m. in Austin.

UTSA then will return to the Alamodome for its final non-conference game against Houston Christian, which will air on ESPN+ at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The Roadrunners will host back-to-back Friday night affairs on ESPN2 with North Texas coming to the Alamodome for an 8 p.m. kickoff on Nov. 15 and Temple heading to the Alamo City for a 6 p.m. matchup on Nov. 22.

UTSA will close out the regular season on the road against Army on Saturday, Nov. 30, in a game that will kick off at 11 a.m. Central time on CBS Sports Network.

The American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game will air on ABC at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6. It will be the 10th consecutive season that The American Championship will be televised on ABC.

Fans can purchase season tickets online or by calling the UTSA Ticket Office at 210-458-UTSA (8872) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding holidays. Current UTSA football season-ticket holders may renew their tickets by logging into their UTSA Account Manager.

Season tickets start as low as $90 per seat. Payment plans for all season ticket packages are available.

Current UTSA students receive free admission to all home games by downloading tickets via their Account Manager.

Most of the remaining start times and television designations for the 2024 season will be made on a weekly basis through the season as part of the conference’s 12-day selection process. For example, UTSA would be notified of its kickoff time and television network designation for the Sept. 28 league opener at East Carolina on Monday, Sept. 16. The most up-to-date schedule, with television designations, is available at TheAmerican.org.

American Athletic Conference teams figure to be well-positioned for a second appearance in the College Football Playoff in 2024 as the new playoff format allows for the five highest-ranked conference champions to reach the 12-team field.

Fifth-year head coach Jeff Traylor welcomes back nearly 50 lettermen, including 16 starters. The Roadrunners are coming off a 9-4 campaign that saw them claim the first bowl win in program history with a 35-17 victory over Marshall in the 2023 Frisco Bowl. UTSA posted a 7-1 mark to finish third in The American in its debut season in the league.
