BRYAN, Texas — UTSA sophomore Daniela Abonce tied for 17th place and senior Camryn Carreon finished 37th to conclude the 2023-24 campaign on Wednesday at the NCAA Bryan Regional at Traditions Club (par 72/6,376 yards).
Abonce carded a 3-over-par 219 (76-72-71) to end up in a four-way tie for 17th in the final tournament of her sophomore season, while Carreon wrapped up her five-year UTSA career with a 224 (77-73-74) in a deadlock with SMU’s Ashley Chow for 37th.
Entering the day with a share of 29th at 4-over 148, Abonce fired a 1-under 71 on the strength of four birdies in the final round of her NCAA postseason debut. She opened with three pars before logging the first of a trio of birdies as part of a 3-under 33 on the front nine. The Veracruz, Mexico, native wrote down a three on the 356-yard, par-4 fourth, a two on the 163-yard, par-3 seventh and a four on the 525-yard, par-5 eighth holes.
Moving to the back nine, Abonce registered a par on No. 10 before a bogey on the 11th, which the 2024 American Athletic Conference champion quickly countered with a birdie-three on the 381-yard 12th to get her back to 3-under for the day. She had to settle for a pair of bogeys to go with four pars down the stretch en route to her 1-under scorecard.
Abonce finished only four strokes out of the top 10 individuals and turned in the third-best finish by a Roadrunner at an NCAA Regional, trailing only Carreon, who won the 2023 San Antonio Regional and tied for fourth two years ago in Franklin, Tennessee. The two-time all-conference selection wrapped up her second year at UTSA with four top-20 finishes and a 72.72 stroke average, which now ranks third on the program’s all-time list.
Carreon carded a 74 on Wednesday in her final round as a Roadrunner. The senior from San Antonio wrote down four birdies, including back-to-back on her final two holes, the 371-yard, par-4 17th and the 444-yard, par-5 18th.
A four-time all-conference performer, Carreon recorded six pars and a birdie-three on the 391-yard third through the first seven holes. After a triple on the eighth, she reeled off four straight pars and her second birdie of the day, a three on the 331-yard 13th.
Carreon concluded her collegiate career with numerous school records on her resumé, including her 71.19 stroke average this season and her career scoring standard of 73.12. She also registered a UTSA-record four victories, 18 top-10 finishes and 58 par-or-better rounds, including 29 sub-70 scorecards.

LSU’s Ingrid Lindblad claimed the individual title with a 12-under 204 (68-68-68), while Kansas State’s Carla Bernat tied for third at 7-under 209 (71-69-69) to advance to the NCAA Championships as the top individual not on one of the five advancing teams: LSU, SMU, Clemson, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M.
