UTSA signs French distance runner Lisa Pelletier

SAN ANTONIO UTSA Director Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced on Friday that the program has signed Lisa Pelletier. The middle distance runner from Paris will join the Roadrunners beginning with the 2024-25 season.

“We’re excited to welcome Lisa Pelletier into our program,” Fox said. “She’s a talented and diversified athlete who has proven herself while competing at the national level in France. We can’t wait to get her on campus to further develop her skills while helping her achieve her academic goals and reach her career aspirations.”

A graduate of Université Catholique de Lille, Pelletier has competed for Lille Metropole Athletisme since 2021. She earned third place in the 800-meter at the 2023 French U23 Championships with a 2:08.16 in Fontainebleau, France, following up a third-place finish at the French U23 Indoor Championships (2:10.33) in February 2023. Her top half-mile time came in July 2023 with a 2:07.94 and she was also clocked at 4:45.43 in the 1,500-meter. Pelletier helped her team win the 2022 French Clubs Championships with a second-place 57.94 clocking in the 400-meter, while she sliced nearly a second to record a 57.02 in the event in 2023. In the course of her career, Pelletier has competed in events ranging from the 50-meter to 10,000-meter, heptathlon to triathlon, and everything in between.
