EUGENE, Ore. – In the final competition for UTSA track & field team at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, junior Jemuel Miller collected the Roadrunners’ third Second Team All-American honor of the meet in Friday’s triple jump at historic Hayward Field. Overall, Miller joins classmate Gabriel Binion and the 4x400-meter relay squad of freshman Martín Kouyoumdjian, junior Noah Rhodes, freshman Nabil Tezkratt and junior Mike Roth in garnering that distinction. Freshman Ida Breigan paced the sizable UTSA competition squad with an eighth-place First Team All-American performance on Thursday – producing the highest women’s NCAA outdoor finish since 2007. Earning All-American Honorable Mention were Tezkratt in the 400-meter and the 4x100-meter relay quartet of Binion, junior Brice Chabot, Tezkratt and Kouyoumdjian.
Friday’s final competition brings to a close another successful season for the Roadrunners, the 16th season under the guidance of director of track & field and cross country Aaron Fox, and UTSA’s inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference.
“I would like to thank my coaching staff, communications and media crew, training and strength staff and everyone else who worked with the track and cross country teams this year,” Fox said of the 2024 season. “We had some huge improvements on the national scene this year because of the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. A huge thank you to the student-athletes that have continued to be loyal leaders and role models on the track, in the community and in the classroom. UTSA being such a young university is a unique opportunity for those that are willing to be leaders and not followers. To forge paths forward setting legacies and traditions is not for everyone. This group this year showed that they are not afraid of anyone or any school in the NCAA. The results speak for themselves. Go ‘Runners!”
In Friday’s final event, Miller (Bridgetown, Barbados) landed a 16.02m (52-6.75) measurement on his second jump of the night, securing 12th place and his third career All-American honor; second as an outdoor performer. Miller also earned second place this season at the American Athletic Conference Championships and locked up the school record in the event at the Texas Invitational in late April.
