UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame member McKenzie Adams rounds out 2024 volleyball coaching staff

Adams currently plays professionally for the LOVB Atlanta club

SAN ANTONIO – On Wednesday, head volleyball coach Carol Price-Torok officially announced the hiring of UTSA Athletics Hall of Famer McKenzie Adams, who will join the staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2024 season.

"Adding a program legend like McKenzie to the staff is incredibly exciting," said Price-Torok in the announcement. "Not only does she have a wealth of experience from her long and successful professional career, but what she accomplished in her time at UTSA has laid the foundation for volleyball in this city. We can't wait to have her in our gym every day working with our student-athletes!".

Adams is set to enter her 11th season as a professional, joining the League One Volleyball Atlanta-based club for 2025, following stops in Puerto Rican, German, Italian, Turkish, and Japanese leagues. Her international experience includes over 20 competition wins, and she was named MVP of the German Supercup with SSC Palmberg Schwerin in the 2019-20 season.

Before competing internationally, she dominated for the Roadrunners, earning two AVCA All-American awards and two conference Player of the Year honors between the 2011-13 volleyball seasons. She set school records in multiple categories, including kills (653), attacks (1,575), and solo blocks (32) across a single season.

After her freshman season, she transferred to UTSA from Virginia and hit the ground running, winning 2011 Southland Newcomer of the Year honors. She was also the 2012 WAC Player of the Year and 2013 Conference-USA Player of the Year, earning first-team all-conference across all three leagues. Adams became the first All-American in program history, receiving an honorable mention by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in 2012 and cracking the third team in 2013.
