Incoming Roadrunner Ims to compete at U20 Championships

SAN ANTONIO – Starting on Wednesday, incoming UTSA student-athlete Selma Ims will compete at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru at Estadio Atlético de la Videna.

Representing her home country of Norway, Ims is set to compete in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles at the World Junior Championships. Her journey in the 400m hurdles begins with the first-round heats on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 9:10 a.m. CT. The semifinal is set for Friday at 3:35 p.m. and finals on Saturday at 4:35 p.m. Her first race in the 100m hurdles is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 29 at 9:21 a.m. CT, while the semifinal is the same day at 3:05 p.m. and the final is Friday at 5:05 p.m.

Ims won gold in the 100m and 400m hurdles at the 2023 Norwegian U20 Championships and repeated as the 2024 Norwegian U20 National Champion in both events – earning silver in the 100m hurdles. Ims also placed second in both hurdles events at the 2024 Nordic U20 Championships earlier this month. Her current career-best 58.65 in the 400m hurdles ranks 251st in the world across all age classes, the top U20 time this season in Norway and 34th-fastest time among all U20 performers in the world.
