SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced on Friday that incoming sophomore transfer thrower Nyaluet Diew will join the Roadrunners’ throwing corps for the 2024-25 season.
“We’re excited to have Nyaluet joining the squad and we’re ready to get to work.” Fox said. “She’s already proven her ability to progress quickly at the DI level, and we’re looking forward to helping her develop toward her goals both in the throwing ring and in the classroom.”
Originally coming out of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Diew spent her 2023-24 rookie season competing at Arkansas State in Jonesboro. In her first crack at an outdoor conference meet, Diew earned eighth place at the 2024 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships in the shot put, registering a career-best mark of 14.92m (48-11.5) – the ninth-best mark in ASU program history. At the SBC Indoors, Diew also logged a 10th-place finish in the weight throw and reached 16.28m (53-5) during the indoor season with the Red Wolves. As a senior at South Sioux City High School, Diew was runner-up at the NSAA Class B State Championships in the shot after earning District B-4 and River Cities Conference Championships in the event – earning five conference titles and three district titles throughout her prep career. She registered an outdoor career-best discus of 39.87m (130-10) and hit 42.31m (138-10) in the hammer throw last season. She is the third member of her family to compete in track and field at the collegiate level.
