The American announces preseason predicted order of finish

IRVING, Texas – Ahead of the American Athletic Conference Media Day, officials from the league office announced on Friday the 2024-25 men’s basketball predicted order of finish. Coming off a 11-21 finish, a coaching change and refitting basically the entire roster, the UTSA Roadrunners enter their second season in the league picked in a tie for 11th.

After turning in their fourth consecutive 20-win season and third straight postseason appearance, the UAB Blazers were picked to lead the league, garnering 9-of-13 first-place votes. The Blazers also collected Preseason Player of the Year in forward Yaxel Lendeborg and placed three on the preseason all-conference teams. Collecting the remaining first place votes, the Memphis Tigers were pegged at number two. With 35 points in the poll, UTSA tied with Tulane for 11th.

In addition, the league’s coaches selected the preseason all-conference teams and award honorees. In addition to Lendeborg as the Preseason Player of the Year, Preseason Freshman of the Year went to Memphis’ Jared Harris.
