About the Roadrunners
The Roadrunners are looking to get back in the win column and extend the series win streak against the 49ers with their second visit to North Carolina this season. The last time in the Tarheel State saw UTSA deliver a 2-0 victory at East Carolina in also the last Roadrunner win. Since then, UTSA has gone 0-3-2 and fell to Tulsa on Thursday at Park West, 2-1, despite erupting for 27 shots, 11 on goal and nine corner kicks.

Freshman forward Addy Johnson leads UTSA with three goals. Senior midfielder Olivia Alvarez fired off a career-high seven shots against Tulsa, notching three on goal, while sophomore Michelle Polo leads UTSA with 26 shots on the year – also topping the squad with four assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler has a 0.96 goals-against-average, 48 saves and a .787 save percentage.

About Charlotte
Setting up against an exceptionally challenging schedule that included three ranked teams in non-conference play, Charlotte is looking for its first win since Sept. 5, when the 49ers topped Campbell at home, 1-0. On Thursday, Charlotte tied UAB in Birmingham, 0-0, and dropped a 2-1 result last week in Memphis, last playing at home in a 2-2 draw against East Carolina on Sept. 26.

The 49ers have totaled eight goals on the year while averaging 8.8 shots per outing, suffering a shutout six times. Senior forward Macey Bader is the only 49er with multiple goals, securing a pair. Graduate student goalkeeper Emma Wakeman also has delivered four shutouts and has a 1.38 GAA, recording 45 saves with a .714 save percentage.

Series history
Meeting for the eighth time overall and fourth time in Charlotte, the Roadrunners and 49ers are knotted at 3-3-1 in the all-time series. This is the first meeting since both teams joined the American Athletic Conference. Head coach Derek Pittman has led UTSA to three straight wins, most recently a 2-0 win at home in 2022. The last trip to Charlotte saw UTSA come out on top in 2019, 2-1.

UP NEXT: Next week is Homecoming at UTSA and the Roadrunners will close out the week with a Sunday, Oct. 20 Senior Day matchup against Temple at Park West.
