Blood Drive Scheduled For Sunday’s UTSA Volleyball Match

by Sean Cartell

UTSA Athletics and South Texas Blood & Tissue are partnering to host a blood drive on Sunday in advance of UTSA Volleyball’s Cancer Awareness match vs. Tulsa.

The blood drive will take place from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the South Texas Blood & Tissue Bloodmobile in front of the Convocation Center. Those interested in participating can register for a time slot here.

UTSA Volleyball will play host to Tulsa in an American Athletic Conference match at the Convocation Center with first serve set for 12 p.m. Sunday. Fans may purchase tickets to the match, starting at just $10.

South Texas Blood & Tissue is asking for blood donors of all types, especially type O, to meet daily hospital demand. Just 3 percent of the U.S. population donates blood annually and population growth in areas like South Texas increases demand to meet patients’ needs. One in 17 hospitalized patients need blood and 25 percent of the blood supply is used by patients battling cancer.
