Men’s Track & Field (2007-10)

Teddy Williams was a four-time All-American in track & field and the first Roadrunner to play in the NFL despite never setting foot on the gridiron during his time at UTSA.

On the track, Williams finished in the top nine at national meets four times, including a fourth-place showing in the 60 meters at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships. A two-time Southland Conference Indoor Athlete of the Year and four-time Outstanding Track Performer, he collected nine gold medals in the sprints and helped lead the Roadrunners to six league titles during his career.

In 2009, Williams clocked a wind-aided time of 9.90 seconds in the 100m, the fastest time under any conditions in UTSA history and a mark that ranked him No. 1 in the world for four months that year. He also ended his collegiate career as the school record holder in the indoor 55m and 60m, and he was invited to compete in the 2008 USA Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene.

A native of Tyler, Texas, Williams earned a tryout at the 2010 Dallas Cowboys Training Camp, which was held at the Alamodome in San Antonio. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cowboys and spent the 2010 and 2011 seasons with that franchise. He then went on to play in the NFL for nine seasons with seven different teams. He served as a team captain in Super Bowl 50 with Carolina, helping the Panthers to a 15-1 record in 2015. He eventually made that franchise’s All-Decade Team for the 2010s.
