SAUCIER, Miss. — Led by a 3-under-par scorecard from Logan Zurn, the UTSA men’s golf team moved up the leaderboard on the second day of the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational on Sunday at Beau Rivage’s Private Course, Fallen Oak (par 72/7,487 yards).

Zurn fired a 69 on the strength of five birdies to help the Roadrunners card a 292 to move out of a three-way tie for 10th place and into sole possession of ninth at 16-over 592. UTSA sits only two shots behind No. 36 Kansas and six behind 48th-ranked Purdue in the team standings. The Roadrunners are two strokes in front of Wisconsin, six ahead of Southern Miss, eight better than Iowa and 10 in front of No. 32 UNLV in the field that includes nine top-50 squads.

Starting on No. 10, Zurn countered a bogey on No. 13 with back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes en route to a 1-under 35 on the back side. The junior transfer then birdied the 596-yard, par-5 first, the 224-yard, par-3 third and the 548-yard, par-5 sixth holes as part of 2-under 34 on the front. His low round of the fall has earned him a share of 23rd place at 2-over 146, as the Grapevine, Texas, native opened with a 77 on Saturday.

Brayden Bare is one shot behind Zurn in a tie for 28th at 3-over 147. The redshirt sophomore from Waco followed UTSA’s low Saturday round of 71 with a 76 that featured a pair of birdies.

Kaelen Dulany is tied for 32nd at 4-over 148. The sophomore transfer posted his second straight 74 on Sunday behind three consecutive birdies on Nos. 14-16.

Walker Franklin is tied for 58th (79-73—152) and Logan Vargas is 70th (78-77—155) to round out the UTSA lineup, while David Martinez is tied for 73rd (79-78—157) while playing as an individual.
