UTSA to head to Dallas for Trinity Forest Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA men’s golf team will travel to Dallas to play in the Trinity Forest Invitational, which will be hosted by SMU on Sunday-Tuesday, Oct. 6-8, at Trinity Forest Golf Club.

Brayden Bare, Kaelen Dulany, Walker Franklin, Logan Vargas, Jack Wehman and Logan Zurn (individual) will represent the Roadrunners during the three-day, 54-hole tournament.

UTSA will line up against Abilene Christian, Furman, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Loyola Marymount, NC State, North Texas, Rice, San Francisco, SMU, UNLV, USC, UT Arlington and UTRGV. The field will play 18 holes each day.

The Roadrunners are coming off a 13th-place finish at the season-opening Valero Texas Collegiate last month at TPC San Antonio Oaks Course. UTSA carded an 891 (296-299-296) in the field that included 10 teams ranked in Golfweek’s preseason top 30.

Dulany was UTSA’s top finisher, tying for 58th with a 221 (72-75-74), while Jack Wehman grabbed a share of 65th with a 223 (74-78-71).

Vargas tied for 70th (74-76-75—225) in his UTSA debut, while Franklin and David Martinez rounded out the UTSA lineup in 74th (76-71-79—226) and 82nd (76-77-76—229), respectively.

This will mark UTSA’s sixth time to compete in the Trinity Forest Invitational. In their last appearance two years ago, Christian Fanfelle finished fifth to guide the Roadrunners to seventh place. Wehman tied for 54th (77-72-71—220) and Bare was 61st (73-71-77—221) at that event.

UTSA’s top finish in their five previous showings at the Trinity Forest Invitational was a runner-up performance on March 7-9, 2021.
