Bare, Dulany, Wehman pace UTSA on Monday at Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS — Brayden Bare, Kaelen Dulany and Jack Wehman all posted a 2-over-par 74 to pace the UTSA men’s golf team on Monday at the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club (par 72/7,617 yards).

That trio helped the Roadrunners register a 300 in the second round, putting their team total at 594 through 36 holes. UTSA is in 15th place and only six strokes behind UT Arlington in the team standings with 18 holes left to play on Tuesday.

Bare’s day was headlined by an eagle on the 315-yard, par-4 14th hole. The redshirt sophomore from Waco also wrote down a dozen pars on his round-two scorecard. He now sits in a tie for 70th place at 5-over 149 after opening with a 75 on Sunday.

Dulany recorded a team-best three birdies on Monday. The sophomore transfer from nearby Keller circled his numbers on the 596-yard, par-5 second, the 440-yard, par-4 sixth and the 420-yard, par-4 15th holes. He also has a share of 70th at 5-over par.

Wehman logged a five-shot improvement from his first round on the strength of 14 pars and a birdie on the 420-yard, par-4 first hole. The senior out of Austin is in a tie for 83rd (+9).

Logan Vargas leads all Roadrunners, as the junior from Lubbock is in a tie for 52nd at 3-over 147. He fired a 3-under 69 on Sunday and followed that with a 78 that featured a birdie on No. 16.

Walker Franklin joins Wehman in the deadlock for 83rd (75-78—153), while Logan Zurn is in 75th (70-80—150) competing as an individual.

UNLV took over the team lead at 26-under par, followed by USC (-25), host SMU (-23), Loyola Marymount (-19) and San Francisco (-13).

Zach Little of UNLV sits atop the individual leaderboard at 12-under 132 (68-64).

The final round is set for Tuesday.
