SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball program is looking to cap off a road swing with a win, as they are set to face UTEP at noon on Saturday at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.
The game will not be televised, however, Neal Raphael will deliver all the action on the radio in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.
The Roadrunners (2-1, 0-0 The American) are hot off a 75-61 victory over New Mexico State, with redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins pacing the squad to the tune of 27 points and 11 rebounds.
She recorded her second double-double of the season on 9-for-14 shooting and an 8-for-8 mark from the charity stripe. Sophomore Idara Udo scored 11 and hauled in four boards, and graduate student Nina De Leon Negron charted 14 points with a career-high four three-pointers. Junior Sidney Love dished out seven assists with eight points.
The Miners (2-0, 0-0 CUSA) have yet to fall in 2024-25, first besting Tarleton State 52-49 before taking down Morehead State 68-41. A trio of squad members average double-digit scoring figures in the form of Ivane Tensale (15.0), Portia Adams (11.0) and Luisa Vydrova (11.0). Vydrova is also second on the team in rebounds, collecting 6.0 RPG, while Mary Moses Amaniyo hauls in 6.5 RPG.
UTSA and UTEP met a year ago, and the 'Runners got the best of the Miners in the Convocation Center, 90-66. Now the program's Director of Operations, Elyssa Coleman, scored a game-high 23 points on 11-for-13 shooting that helped the squad convert 58% from the field. In addition to her success, Love posted 16 points, with then-sophomore Siena Guttadauro logging 12 and then-freshman Emma Lucio sinking her first collegiate bucket.
