UTSA took down Towson 71-40 at the Juan Abreu Coliseum

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The UTSA women's basketball team led wire-to-wire across a 71-40 victory over Towson at Juan Abreu Coliseum as a part of the Puerto Rico Clasico. The win represented the 'Runners sixth in a row, and was the largest margin of victory since a 97-76 routing of Florida Atlantic on Feb. 25, 2017.

The Roadrunners (6-1, 0-0 The American) took down the Tigers (0-7, 0-0 CAA) as redshirt junior Jordyn Jenkins worked 18 points, while graduate student Nina De Leon Negron posted 14 with eight assists and five rebounds and junior Cheyenne Rowe scored 10.

Jenkins hit back-to-back shots to open the contest, sparking a 10-0 run that put UTSA up early. Towson fought back within four as the quarter neared its close, but a sophomore Idara Udo bucket near the buzzer saw a 20-14 score line at its conclusion.

Makes for junior Alexis Parker, and Rowe put UTSA firmly in the driver's seat, with a pair of classmate Sidney Love free throws delivering a 31-16 Roadrunner edge. Shortly after, the squads headed into the locker room with the 'Runners leading 39-22.

UTSA never looked back, outscoring Towson 19-7 in the third, helping cement the 71-40 victory.

The Roadrunners will now return to San Antonio, with a matchup against Sam Houston on the docket for Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. the Convocation Center.
