Roadrunners wrap competition at Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The distance contingent for the UTSA men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped competition on Saturday at Vanderbilt’s Music City Challenge, competing at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility.

Junior Victor Charo led the Roadrunner competitors, finishing 16th overall in the seeded 800m with an indoor-best 1:51.26, which moves him up to third in the UTSA Indoor Record Book. Also running the half mile in the unseeded race, freshman Corlin Salge turned in a 1:53.07 clocking to finish sixth in the event. Gabe Tubbs was 21st in the unseeded at 1:54.93.

In the unseeded 3,000m run, OJ Ruiz was 25th overall after running in section 2, coming in at 8:42.59.

The lone women’s runner in the meet for UTSA, Jadelyn Malesich finished 36th in the unseeded 3,000m with a career-best time of 10:36.83. In the mile. Malesich finished 65th on the first day of competition with a career-best 5:10.75.

Following this weekend’s events, the Roadrunners will begin preparations for American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham Crossplex, Feb 28 through March 1.
