UTSA bested FAU 60-42, clinching an outright regular-season conference championship and the No. 1 seed in the American Women’s Championship. 2,250 fans packed the Convocation Center for a new program record. The ‘Runners wrapped up the home slate 13-0, going undefeated at the Convo for the first time since 1984-85. Additionally, UTSA’s 25th win set a new program benchmark, and a 16th league win represents the second-most in school history.
Junior Maya Linton was dominant, posting a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins charted 11 points with seven boards and junior Sidney Love 10.
The Pirates (16-13, 8-9 The American) and Roadrunners previously met on Feb. 12, when UTSA picked up a 60-46 victory. Jenkins led the way, dropping 23 points with six rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Love also had a solid game, scoring 15, and classmate Cheyenne Rowe snagged 10 rebounds.
This time around, ECU eyes a third straight win after taking down Florida Atlantic, 80-70, and South Florida, 66-57, on the road last week.
