UTSA Athletics Celebrating Women’s History Month

by Sean Cartell

UTSA Athletics is engaged in a month-long celebration of Women’s History Month throughout March with a digital media video series and recognitions at women’s basketball and softball games. The celebration is honoring the contributions of female student-athletes, coaches and staff, highlighting their roles in shaping UTSA and across the nation.

The video series, which will be available on UTSA Athletics’ primary digital media channels, is featuring student-athletes, coaches and staff related to the significance of Women’s History Month. Watch the first episode in this series, featuring head softball coach Vann Stuedeman.

On March 1, UTSA Athletics committed to breaking the Convocation Center women’s basketball attendance record. Roadrunners fans helped smash the previous record of 2,000 fans when 2,250 supporters attended last Saturday’s game and celebrated the UTSA women’s basketball team’s American Athletic Conference regular-season championship.

At that game, the Roadrunners welcomed back and recognized 10 UTSA women’s basketball alumni from the 1980s, led by Rhonda Hoffman, who in 2022, pledged a planned gift to the UTSA women’s basketball program.

On Saturday, March 8, the UTSA softball game vs. East Carolina (12 p.m. at Roadrunner Field) will celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. The UTSA Equal Opportunity Services and Title IX Office will be recognized pre game.

UTSA Athletics is committed to celebrating Women’s History Month.
