IRVING, Texas – Graduate student transfer Hugo Menin has been named the American Athletic Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, officials from the conference office announced on Tuesday. This marks the first weekly award for the Roadrunners this outdoor season.
A first-year transfer from Tarleton State, Menin (Cysoing, France) made a strong showing over the weekend at the nationally recognized 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin. In the preliminary, Menin went a season-best 51.07 in the 400-meter hurdles, then finishing fifth in the final on a 51.69 clocking. His top time from the weekend ranks ranks 13th in the nation and tops the leaderboard in The American. In addition, Menin also helped UTSA to a fourth-place 4x400-meter relay finish on a combined 3:07.25 (with squadmates Mike Roth, Martín Kouyoumdjian and Matthew Mills), which is third in the UTSA all-time records, 11th in the NCAA and second in the AAC.
This marks the first AAC Athlete of the Week honor for the Roadrunners this outdoor season and the first of Menin’s career. This is the second AAC men’s outdoor honor, third overall UTSA outdoor AAC honor and the eighth for either season for UTSA since the program joined The American before the 2023-24 school year.
The next competition on the schedule for Menin and the Roadrunners is April 11-12 in College Station, Texas, as UTSA travels to Texas A&M’s 44 Farms Team Invitational.
