Daniel Stinson joined UTSA Athletics in August 2023 as the Assistant Athletics Director for Equipment Operations.

Stinson came to San Antonio from the head athletic equipment manager role for famed Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, where he was responsible for providing apparel for all 26 sports, as well as working as the liaison for the school’s athletic venues.

Stinson also spent time as Equipment Manager for FIU from 2019 until 2020. During this time, he assisted Butch Davis’ team by budgeting the current and future financial forecasts, utilizing Adidas B2B portals. He was also responsible for the coordination of the travel for equipment to away games, which includes scheduling tractor trailer pick up and ensuring efficient and secure packaging of all equipment.

Before his stop at FIU, Stinson was Assistant Director of Equipment Operations and the University of Minnesota. He served as Interim Director of Equipment Operations and was part of a Minnesota football program led by coach P.J. Fleck that snapped a streak of 14-straight Paul Bunyan's Axe defeats and went on to win the Quick Lane Bowl over Georgia Tech.

Prior to his time at Minnesota, Stinson was the Assistant Equipment Supervisor at the University of Wyoming. Just a year later, he was promoted to Head Equipment Supervisor where he oversaw all aspects of equipment operations and was part of a football program that went to first back-to-back bowls since 1988 and Mountain Division champions in 2016 and 2018.

Getting his start as a student at Northern Illinois University, Stinson was a Student Manager and went to five bowl games with the Huskies including the Orange Bowl, during this time they went on to win two conference football championships. He was later promoted to Sport Facility/Equipment Supervisor where he worked with men’s and women’s soccer, baseball, softball, gymnastics, wrestling, men’s and women’s tennis and football. During his tenure as supervisor, Stinson earned a certification from the Athletic Equipment Managers Association. Stinson has also worked for several professional sporting events, most prominently in the Super Bowl LIV Ball Crew, where he acted as a liaison between the Kansas City Chiefs, the San Fransisco 49ers and the NFL for the certification of footballs to be used in the game. He also worked briefly as a grounds crew member for Miami Marlins in 2020 and the Los Angeles Angels in 2023, where he acted as the primary contact for ensuring MLB standards for foul lines and batter boxes.

Stinson graduated from Northern Illinois in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a minor in Communications. He went on to receive his master’s in sports management from the University of Texas in 2023.
