Robbie Benevides officially joined the Austin Claunch's inaugural staff at UTSA in August 2024. He arrived with the Roadrunners from across town, after serving one season as the Director of Operations at Incarnate Word. Before taking on the operations role, Benevides worked his way up the Cardinals staff from a 2019 graduate assistant postition, to serving as the men's basketball video coordinator and assistant director of operations from 2021-23.
A San Antonio native, Benevides attended St. Mary’s University, where he played on the basketball team for four years under Jim Zeleznak. He led the team in assists and steals, while topping the Lone Star Conference with a 3:1 assist/turnover ratio.
Benavides graduated from St. Mary’s in 2018 with a bachelors degree in Exercise and Sports Science, later obtaining his master's degree in Sports Management from the University of Incarnate Word in 2021. After his playing career was over with the Rattlers, he spent one season as a volunteer assistant coach at St. Mary's.
